It’s Joey Hoover wins in Placerville.

Joey Hoover celebrated his brothers Richies 21st birthday by capitalizing on this front row starting position to claim his first Capital City Midgets main event of 2009.    Hoover started the race on the pole only trailed on the first lap when Dillon Silverman jumped out to a quick lead.  Once Hoover took the lead on lap 2 he never looked back.

Following Hoover at the checkered were Rick Holbrook, Pete Paulson, the birthday boy, Richie Hoover and CCM point leader Dillon Silverman.  Silverman and Matt Land of Elk Grove battled for track position as the 5th place finish allowed Silverman to extend his point lead over Land.

Jeff Shurley in his first race received the Hard Charger award improving from his 11th place starting place to 7th when the checkered waved.  

In heat race action, Dillon Silverman got the best of the Capital City Midget contingent in heat race one.    Bill Lyon held off a charging Rick Young at the line to take 2nd.  Young was followed by Lonny Alton, Matt Land and Cody Spencer.  In that race, Young charged his way from 8th to 3rd driving his RRE EcoTec powered Stealth.

Joey Hoover gave the crowd a preview of the main event as he led all 8 laps to take the heat race win.  He was followed by Holbrook, Paulson, R. Hoover, Stuart Goehring and Shurley.
