Rick Young gets a checkered in Orland

9-22-09  At the last minute the CCM got together and decided to head up to Orland for a non-points race at Dan Ochs Speedway.    All the racers in attendance were using the night to test new engines or changes recently make to their power plants.   Orland Speedway has been more than accommodating to our group giving us a place to race at a moments notice.

Even though it was a non-points race, when the green flag drops it is game on when these guys hit the track......  In the first heat race, Dillon Silverman sat on the pole with his car owner Rick Young on the outside.  With new RRE computers on board their EcoTecs came to life and lit up the track.  Young jumped from his front row position never looking back leading all 8 laps for the win.  He was followed across the line by Lonny Alton and Silverman.

Cody Spencer who arrived a bit late (as they spent the day putting in a new engine).   Ran a hot lap session, and then started on the pole for the main event.  At the start of the race, Alton lost oil pressure and retired before completing a lap.   Young who started on the outside front row moved into the lead followed by Silverman who was never able to put pressure on the old guy.    At the line it was Young, Silverman, Spencer and Alton.

Keith Iaia of Revolution Racing was on hand and echoed the sentiment of the drivers that Orland Raceway is the best midget track they have ever seen.  Great Job Dan we will be back.
